Is that your first impression?

"I said oh, the lasting first impression
Is what you're looking for
I said oh, is that your first impression
And is that good enough for you?
Good enough for you
Enough for you?
And is that good enough for you?"
- Duran Duran - "First Impression" (1990)

This blog is nothing more than a series of pixels in the proper placing to express a fragment of another person to the world. In all honesty, it could be viewed many ways; each as different in opinion as the minds behind each set of eyes viewing it in the first place. Namely yours. There are many ways to introduce you to me, but that takes a majority of the fun out of all of this.

I'm going to tell you two truths and one lie, in hopes of saving you the time in deciding if you should read more. I figure this ratio to be a reliable, albeit made up, statistic to go by when dealing with the average person for the first time. (This ratio, of course, changes depending on the person and how much alcohol has been consumed. But let's pretend it's a normal sort of a normal way of meeting someone and I'm a normal sort of normal person to meet, shall we?).

  1. The intimidation that came from looking at my first blank page illuminating on my laptop rivaled that of being the last person standing in a high-school dodge ball free-for-all and silently praying for any sort of mutant superpower to aid in the predicament. (Unfortunately, Marvel's Nightcrawler would still have to type my inner monologue out and sadly, he only has three "fingers" to do it with).

  2. This, and everything following, is only a safe-haven for an overworking mind. Constantly firing neurons working til all hours of the night and proving that I've probably seen more sunrises than sunsets; as viewing sunsets requires a person to actually take notice out the window some point in time between pure daylight turning into complete darkness.

  3.  I, being a completely neutral and slowly-developing personality in your mind, will never lie to you. Everything stated will be the absolute truth, as I can recall it, and the conversation will always remain on track. There will be no varying of subjects and you'll probably read me everyday until you reach the end and be satisfied with the fully-developed story of the world around me. Of course, I will always be the good and righteous person that people expect from a story and all the right choices will eventually align in perfect order for us to enjoy together.
Merriam-Webster defines the word 'truth' several ways for us, which seems to elude just how hard it is to pin down. (I'll define Merriam-Webster as a dictionary, or, for a majority of society online these days, a big book, which is a very long text message, of how to be a 'spell-check' button).

    truth : noun \ˈtrüth\

    1
    a archaic : fidelity, constancy
b : sincerity in action, character, and utterance
    2
a (1) : the state of being the case : fact (2) : the body of real things, events, and facts : actuality (3) often capitalized : a transcendent fundamental or spiritual reality
b : a judgment, proposition, or idea that is true or accepted as true <truths of thermodynamics>
c : the body of true statements and propositions
    3
a : the property (as of a statement) of being in accord with fact or reality
    b chiefly British : true 2
c : fidelity to an original or to a standard
    4
    capitalized Christian Science : god
    in truth
: in accordance with fact : actually
A judgement, proposition, or idea that is true. . . or -accepted- as true. How powerful an idea like that can be if put to use. It's the plot of many of the novels that line my walls, and in nearly every movie I've seen to date. The truth is something that teases us all the time, an elusive wisp of fluff that rolls in the direction of whatever breeze blows the hardest and changes it's shape and strength as time passes by. If anything comes from our time together, the only thing I hope you gain is this:

    Question Everything.
    Even me.

To the first of many things to come,
